Due to expansion, Bigfoot Crane Company is excited to be hiring for a newly appointed full-time Assistant Controller position. Reporting to the Controller, the position will assist in a wide variety of financial reporting and full-cycle accounting responsibilities, including fixed asset and inventory management.

Our primary focus in the financial department over the next few years will be the continuing evolution to improve our systems and are currently implementing phases of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP system. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with systems implementation programming and training – Microsoft Navision/ Dynamics 365
  • Prepare monthly consolidated and multi-currency financial statements while managing the month-end close schedule
  • Manage journal entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for monthly and annual closing
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial results
  • Bank reconciliations and cash flow projections
  • Prepare various monthly reports and projections
  • Review intercompany transactions and reconcile intercompany balances
  • Manage inventory sub-ledgers, work with operations and sales teams on setting up parts, sell prices, physical count adjustments
  • Assist with year-end financial statements and schedules for external accountants
  • Maintain schedules and documents for additions, disposals, and depreciation of all fixed assets
  • Maintain records of the company’s owned and leased vehicles
  • Preparation and reconciliation of tax filings (GST, PST, Corporate Income Tax etc.)
  • Review and assist with bi-weekly payroll processing, supervision of annual T4 reporting, assist with preparing and maintaining company HR policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Controller to develop and document business processes and accounting policies
  • Mentor and assist junior accounting staff
  • Provide Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable back up support if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

You bring these skills/attributes to the job:

Required Experience

  • You have an Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • Recent experience preparing financial statements and variance analysis
  • Solid fixed asset and inventory knowledge
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or ERP implementations
  • Five (5) or more years of work experience at a senior accounting level
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Canadian payroll knowledge, particularly BC Employment Standards

CHARACTER and SKILLS

  • You can think outside the box! Accuracy is extremely important, so is the bigger picture
  • Ability to lead a team, manage the monthly reporting process, communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency MS Office Suite and Jet Report writing
  • A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • A natural desire to learn and accept change readily
  • Demonstrate consistent reliability and responsibility
  • Ability to monitor deadlines and prioritize workflow
  • Maintain a flexible approach under pressure
