This position plays an important part in supporting the technology that keeps our business operating smoothly. The Business Systems and IT Support Specialist will assist employees with day-to-day technical issues, maintain company hardware and mobile devices, and support the ongoing development of our digital tools. The role blends hands-on IT support with business system administration and light development work. It is well suited for someone with strong technical skills who wants to grow their career in business systems and automation.

Daily work will include supporting users in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, helping improve Power Platform solutions, assisting with Microsoft 365 applications and AI tools, managing laptops and phones, and supporting software rollouts and upgrades. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Service, and Accounting, teams to ensure staff have the tools and technology they need. This role is ideal for someone early in their technical career who enjoys problem solving and learning new systems. Training and development will be provided, with room to grow into more advanced business systems work overtime.

We provide rentals, sales and service for numerous products such as: Self-Erecting Tower Cranes, Traditional Tower Cranes, Construction Hoists and Roof Top Derrick Cranes. IT Support:

  • Provide first line support for employees experiencing technical issues with computers, printers, email, or network access
  • Liaise with the external IT administrator to coordinate problem resolution, and assist with computer setup and system changes, and general project management
  • Install and manage workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and related hardware for new and existing staff
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, escalating to external IT administrators or advanced support when required
  • Maintain asset tracking for company assets including but not limited to hardware, mobile devices, building keys, security codes, etc.

 

Business Systems & Microsoft 365:

  • Support users in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with questions, access, and basic troubleshooting
  • Assist with Business Central improvements including reports, page edits, permissions, user setup, and basic development changes
  • Help document and organize Business Central projects, testing, and deployment
  • Assist with Microsoft 365 administration, including user setups, email, Teams, and standard applications
  • Provide guidance on best practices for file management, collaboration, and security within Microsoft 365

 

Power Platform & AI:

  • Help build, improve, and maintain Power Platform solutions used across the business
  • Assist with basic automation updates, data connections, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Support user requests for workflow changes, new fields, dashboards, and form updates
  • Participate in testing and quality assurance before new features are released
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to automate tasks, improve data accuracy, and reduce manual work using AI-enabled features
  • Help train staff on new tools and create simple documentation or guides
  • Research and help implement emerging AI tools and capabilities
  • Work with managers to explore proof-of-concept ideas that could improve efficiency, reporting, or customer service

 

Building Security Access:

  • Assign and track building access codes and physical keys for employees and contractors
  • Liaise with the security provider to troubleshoot alarm system issues and coordinate service when required
  • Maintain accurate documentation of access assignments, changes, and security procedures
  • Assist with routine security checks, minor system adjustments, and user access updates

 

General Technology Support:

  • Update and maintain asset tracking for all staff
  • Assist with software rollouts, updates, and new system implementations
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when supporting staff
  • Document processes, training materials, and troubleshooting guides

Required Qualifications:

  • A two-year technical diploma, university degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • One to three years of experience in IT support, help desk, or technical support roles
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (firewall, switch, router, Wi-Fi), with the ability to work with external providers on configuration or troubleshooting
  • Exposure to Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and user account management
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows computers, printers, user accounts, and common desktop applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Excel, Word, and basic administration)
  • Experience with at least one business or ERP system, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP Business One, Sage, QuickBooks Enterprise, or NetSuite
  • Strong attention to detail and organization, including documentation and asset tracking
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and follow established processes
  • Clear, professional communication with technical and non-technical users
  • Curious and self-driven, comfortable researching solutions and learning independently
  • Able to work well with different departments and users with varying skill levels
  • Valid BC driver’s license and ability to work at multiple locations on occasion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (support, permissions, views, reports, or development)
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
  • Experience with machine learning or AI tools in Microsoft or other environments (Copilot, Power Platform AI features, Azure AI services, ChatGPT, etc.)
  • Exposure to basic scripting, APIs, SQL, or data analysis
  • Experience with security systems, alarm monitoring, or camera systems
  • IT-related coursework, certificates, or training (CompTIA, Microsoft, Google IT Support, etc.)
