Bigfoot Crane Company Inc. is seeking a full-time Crane & Rigging Instructor to join our Academy team at the head office in Abbotsford, BC. The successful candidate will report to the Academy Manager and be responsible for providing crane, rigging, and hoist training to our students and corporate clients. We’re hiring an instructor who is reliable, experienced, knowledgeable, patient, and looking for a rewarding career as an educator.

These are the day to day expectations of this job:

  • Instructor for corporate crane & rigging training throughout BC and Alberta.
    • Light travel required (maximum 2 weeks per month, typically only 1-3 days)
  • Instructor for:
    • Stiff Boom and Self-Erect Tower Crane Courses
    • Rigger Certification Courses
    • Crane and rigging training sessions at customer locations
  • Instructor for Construction Hoist Operator Course (training provided)
  • Provide Legendary customer service
  • Prepare training materials for upcoming sessions
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Provide innovative ideas and assist with course material development

You bring these skills/attributes to the job:

Required Experience

  • Full Scope – Mobile Hydraulic Certification or,
  • Full Scope – Stiff Boom 40 tonnes & Under Certification
  • Five (5) years crane and rigging industry experience, minimum
  • Fluent English, excellent grammar and manners
  • Strong computer and math skills
  • Class 5 license with clean abstract

Bonus Experience

  • Red Seal Crane Certification
  • Previous Training Experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience

  • Positive, outgoing, adaptable, and team oriented
  • Passionate for the industry and sharing experiences/knowledge
  • Comfortable speaking in front of up to 10 people at a time
  • Energetic, very patient, and possess the endurance to speak for full day sessions
  • A self-starter that can work with minimal supervision
  • A “the right way is the only way” mentality
  • Clear communication and public speaking skills
  • Able to give negative feedback to students when required
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Type of person who is always punctual and prepared
  • Demonstrate consistent reliability and responsibility
  • Willing to travel up to 2 weeks per month
  • Ability to contribute positively in a team environment
  • Passionate about continued learning and professional development

Your peace of mind is important to us, which is why Bigfoot team members and their immediate family (spouse/significant other & children) are eligible for full benefits after three months of continuous employment. These benefits are outlined in detail in our Bigfoot Employee Package, which includes what is covered, how much is covered, and specific eligibility.

Employees pay premiums for Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), and Life Insurance. This means you won’t be taxed if you ever have to draw on one of them. Employee premiums are prorated and deducted on a bi-weekly payroll deduction. Bigfoot pays all remaining premiums.

At Bigfoot, we are “life-learners”. That means being professionally certified and keeping those certifications current is not only required; it’s valued as an important part of our culture.

We encourage consistent growth and professional development as you maintain and upgrade your certifications, but we don’t make you do it alone. Where applicable Bigfoot will not only pay for the program tuition required to increase your credentials, we’ll also pay you for the time it takes to complete those programs.

And just to sweeten the pot, we also cover required professional membership dues that are directly related to your position. Long story short, having highly certified employees is a key part of Being Legendary and a great financial benefit to our team.

At Bigfoot, employees are eligible to participate in our Group RRSP Program following six months of continuous employment. Once you have reached this milestone, you will receive a detailed booklet and an investor strategy worksheet to help determine where to invest your contributions.
